Talbet Fulthorpe has always lived in Canberra. He works
predominantly with digital media and is fascinated by hidden places and
forgotten objects.
His project for Cracks in the Pavement involves recycling 'found'
footage from a collection of discarded 8mm reels. These archives of memory
have been left on film without any way to trace the owners. In an attempt
to learn more about the history of this footage, pieces are extracted
and left for others to find and hopefully recognize. The stories in these
pieces inform the viewer of events from the past, and also the secret
desires of the artist. The process of finding and the joy of discovering
often leads to an itching sensation when there are no answers.
If you know anything else about these works, please let the artist know.
